About Jefferson Township CLEAR
Conservation of Land, Environmental, & Agricultural Resources

The objects and purposes of CLEAR shall be as follows:

​

   1. To protect our township’s greatest assets: clean water, agriculturally productive land, thriving wildlife, and the right to an agrarian lifestyle.
 

   2. To hold commercial development accountable from intruding upon or risking residents’ health, safety, and wellbeing including but not limited to: chemical exposure, water contamination, property value reduction, and/or the restfulness/enjoyment of their residence. 

 

   3. To hold commercial development accountable from intruding upon or risking agricultural operations’ or livestocks’ health, safety, and wellbeing including but not limited to: protecting active or potentially productive farmland areas, maintaining a clean watershed, and supporting legislation that prioritizes our agricultural heritage. 

 

   4. To ensure development occurs in support of our residents' long term vision for our community and our comprehensive plan.

 

   5. To work with local government bodies to promote proactive planning, ordinance formation, and amendment work that balances: residents’ concerns, environmental protection, and responsible development.

 

   6. To collaborate with entities whose goals are to preserve agriculture, the environment, wildlife, watersheds, and the like. 

 

   7. To stand in solidarity against our small, rural township being taken advantage of in commercial development requests due to lack of: funds, legal expertise, manpower, or any resource that may allow large agencies to otherwise exploit rural communities.
