The meeting on 9/30 is summarized below:
There was public comment from residents. The majority expressed concerns about grid scale solar, a few individuals were in support of solar or property owner rights to sell to solar.
Chris Lawrence addressed his resignation at the previous meeting and confirmed he returned to the Board of Supervisors. However, he stepped down as Chairman which was then filled by Dave Stiffler.
Supervisors adopted a "Public Participation Resolution" which means public comment will now be first at meetings. Supervisors may or may not respond or answer questions during public comment.
The supervisors expressed concern over the current overlay and solar ordinance, and they ultimately sent it back to planning to revise.
Next steps for the community: ATTEND the planning commission meeting on Oct 9th at 7:30pm. The planning commission is who has written the overlay and ordinance that everyone is concerned about, so they need to hear directly from residents on how it can/should be improved. Please attend the upcoming meeting like everyone attended this past special meeting! Thank you Jefferson Township and see you there.
